You may have heard the phrase ‘new year, new me’ many times, but a fresh start can mean many different things. Here at Citirecruit, we want candidates to understand their options when it comes to their career, which is why we’ve put together a few things to consider as we enter another new year.
Are you ready?
Not everyone likes to move around when it comes to employment, and it’s ok to want to stay in one place, however there are a few tell-tale signs that you might be ready for a new start elsewhere.
Stale workplace – if you’re workplace feels like it’s not progressing with the times and is stuck in the past, you may want to move on so that you don’t get too complacent. It’s good to learn new skills and adapt to new situations, so don’t let your workplace hold you back.
Boredom – If you find yourself, more often than not, bored while at work then chances are, you’re not being challenged enough. If there’s no room for more responsibility or the chance to learn a new skill, your best bet is to look elsewhere.
Personal reasons – If there’s something personal that could interfere with your current job, such as childcare and flexible working hours, try and speak with your manager first to find a way around it. If this isn’t possible, it might be a good time to search elsewhere for a job that can accommodate your needs.
Progression – If you’re ambitious and want to work your way higher up the ranks in your industry but find that your current workplace lacks the opportunities you’re looking for, this might be the best time to get in touch with a recruitment agency who can help you find something that matches your desired level.
Passion – This might seem obvious, but a lot of people still decide to ignore what they’re passionate about and carry on in a role that doesn’t satisfy them. Take this new year as a fresh start and work towards that career you’ve always wanted. Whatever it is, Citirecruit can help you find a job vacancy that matches your career goals.
