It’s January and its time to go back to reality and start working again after an amazing Christmas break. It’s a new year and time for changes. Leave 2018’s mess behind and get yourself organised. As a recruitment agency, we know it’s hard to make changes but were here to help you get organised. We have 5 tips on how to organise your office space.
1.Clear everything off!
Go to your desk and take everything off! Sort through it and be harsh, anything you don’t need or have not used for a while needs to go. Bin what you can and the rest can go into storage. The less things on your desk, the less distractions during work, but you will also find it easier to find things when you need them.
2. Filing System
Create yourself a filing system. Buy folders and storage boxes to help you get organised. Each folder should be labeled and only relevant files should be in it. For example a “meeting folder” should contain any documents related to meetings. You can take the labeling even further and have a folder for each meeting if you tend to have a lot of them during the week.
Storage boxes are super useful when organising and trying to save space. Anything you don’t use but still need, can go in a storage box with a label on it and get put away somewhere safe. This way you will know where it is when you need it.
3. Personal Space
Everyone in your office should have their own space. Besides having their own desk, they should also have their personal storage space. The space doesn't have to be big. Having such space will allow them to store things away from their desks, making the office look tidy and neat.
Having a small bin next to your desk is always handy. Whatever rubbish you would normally leave lying around your workspace can now be thrown away without having to move. This is great, it saves you time, helps you stay tidy and requires no effort!
5. Plan ahead
Get yourself a calendar or diary. Having a physical item where you can write down your tasks and things to do can help you get rid of any notes or bits of paperwork hanging around. Having one place to keep your notes will keep you organised and help you declutter. If you’re not working on it on that day, put it away.
